DER LETZTE SOMMER – THOMAS MANN@WALDHAUS SILS
August 1954. Thomas Mann once again resides in the Waldhaus Sils. Alone and from the perspective of the famous writer, you enter his room on the first floor. But at the desk sits a ghost: Thomas Mann's long-deceased son Klaus. In the visitor, Klaus recognizes his father and engages him in conversation. Equipped with a VR headset, you experience up close the confrontation between Klaus Mann and his father, portrayed by Peter Jecklin in virtual reality, as an encounter between the real and the longed-for self. And ultimately in a surprising way with oneself.
IM ZAUBERBERG – THOMAS MANN@DAVOS
Equipped with a VR headset, visitors travel back in time. In the year 1912, they encounter Thomas Mann and Hans Castorp, the fictional character from "The Magic Mountain," at the former lung sanatorium Dr. Jessen in Davos. The tension between creator and protagonist, between real and projected self, between viewer and artwork, lies at the heart of the new digital-analog installation. An original patient room in today's Waldhotel Davos becomes the stage for the intimate encounter of the viewers from the perspective of the famous writer with his alter ego and ultimately with himself.
