Überzeugngstäter

The term conviction-driven act is not an easy one. It is caught between values and violence, ideals and arrogance, emancipation and tyranny. Convictions are fundamental—principles guiding human action, like human rights. At the same time, there are countless beliefs, worldviews, and ideologies that promote entirely different, even opposing principles. At the fault line between conflicting ideals, the crucial question of action arises:

When and how do we stand up for our convictions? When do we let words be followed by actions? Do we set out to shape the world, or are we merely being prepared for the world to shape us—since our ideas about life have long been indistinguishable from the product range of a globalized lifestyle? Have our convictions already become commodities in the marketplace? Or do a few remnants of our utopian obstinacy still remain?

"Überzeugungstäter" is the first production of a multi-year cooperation project. For the first time, this project brings together students from two arts universities in Lower Saxony for a theater production: aspiring actors from Hanover meet future art mediators from Braunschweig.
